Abstract
We experienced 4 cases of skin damage caused by a decolorizing agent. Case 1;: A 20-year-old female patient presented with blisters and erosions on her eyebrows on the day after applying a decolorizing agent. Case 2;: A 25-year-old female presented with erosions and bullae on her eyebrows two days after applying a decolorizing agent. Case 3:; A 19-year-old male presented with bullae and erosions on both eyebrows the day after applying a decolorizing agent. Case 4;: A 20-year-old female presented with erythema, erosions, and bullae on both eyebrows the day after applying a decolorizing agent. All four cases used the same decolorizing agent: Epilat Speedy made by Kracie. In 2019, the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan issued a warning, ”Watch out for skin disorders on the face and other parts of the face due to the use of hair bleaching products!''. However, as of July 2022, the Japanese Association of Clinical Dermatologists is accumulating cases of skin disorders caused by hair bleaching in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, as reports of skin disorders caused by hair removers continue to emerge. However, no special warnings have been issued for decolorizing agents. Our 4 cases were induced by improper use of decolorizing agent, however the dangers of bleaching agents should therefore be considered.
