Abstract
In the computer.based networking of libraries the making of data bases is indispensable. The Tokai Association of Private University Libraries started to make a data base for a regional union catalog of periodicals. Its backgrounds, processes, and systems characteristics are out lined here. In addition to the main function of automated editing of life histories of periodicals, easy addition and revision of retrospective data is also taken into consideration.
