Abstract
As kanji (Chinese characters) in Japanese writing have several ways of reading, their automatic conversion into kana(Japanese syllabary) is very difficult. The authors havedeveloped a comprehensive dictionary of exceptional readings of kanji and computer programs to convert ordinary Japanese sentences (in kanji mode) to kana mode with the accuracy of over 99.7%. Though the system is primarily designed to convert JICST Scientific Literature File Titls, it is also expected to be applicable to Braille transformation and automatic reading.
