Development of Document Management System in a Local Public Body. The Case of Saitama Prefecture

Abstract

Public offering of information in the central government and local public bodies has been an issue. With regard to it how information made and kept by the governmental bodies should be processed, stored and retrieved has been another topic to be discussed recently. Local Autonomy Information Center and Saitama Prefecture developed the system of which core function is information retrieval for the purpose of managing document information of local public bodies such as archives, administrative materials systematically. Furthermore, they provided the supporting tools for more efficient preparation of the secondary information and more advanced searching performance. The present situation of document management and the system outline are described.
