Abstract
What is CALS ? At the begining of CALS, CALS stood for "Computer Aided Logistic System". The new name is "Commerce at Light Speed". The changes of name have not helped people who have been struggling to understand CALS. CALS represents a new way of dealing with information. It is a strategy which standardizes, automates and integrates information across organizational and regional boundaries. CALS is not an Technology, though without Technology it would be impossible to adopt a CALS strategy, but rather a comprehensive approach to Information Management.
