Abstract
A polymer database named"PoLyInfo", which has been developed by Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST), aims to support polymeric materials design. As the relations among polymer data items are so complicated, it has been difficult to construct a database for materials design that is required to provide comprehensive and precise polymer data. In order to cope with the problem, we adopted the object-oriented technique to analyze polymer data and then designed the database on the basis of the result of the analysis. The policy of the data editing and the perspective of using database are also described.
