The best way to predict the future of library is to invent it : Concept, vision, mission and action of the Code4Lib JAPAN

Abstract

The author describes the concept of Code4Lib Japan inaugurated in August 2010 and its vision and mission to make (public) libraries in Japan, many of them in stifling conditions, more responsive to changing ICT technologies thus to the new needs of the customers. Code4Lib Japan provides seminars and workshops to make more librarians ICT technology-savvy throughout Japan.
