Challenges of the NicoNico Gakkai Beta, a newly-launched society for pursuing the value of user participation in content creation

Abstract

User generated content come in variety of forms including ones each with an original system which incorporates a new technique developed from user ingenuity. Some might be highly valued research outcomes of low visibility and recognition in research community in the past. The NicoNico Gakkai Beta, launched on the basis of principle of user participation, aims to be a venue for both professional and amateur creators to showcase their research. The society held the 1st symposium on December 2011 and the 2nd on April 2012. This article looks at the society’s background, the principle, and symposiums’ overview.
