Abstract
iPS cell is a pluripotent cell produced by introducing 4 genes into a somatic cell. Special efforts are paid to treat the intellectual property for iPS cell despite research in universities, since the industrial applications such as medical applications are expected. Here I describe what iPS cell is and introduce the issue of patent examination and patent dispute special to iPS cell which Intellectual Property Office, Center for iPS Cell Research and Application is facing, and effort for handling thereof. In addition, I consider whole concept of the spread of iPS cell technology by using intellectual property.
