Global scholarly communications have been made with a variety of tools such as electronic journals via internet nowadays. The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) promotes the field of communication, electronics and information systems, and has been steadily active in global publications to enhance global collaborations, since the IEICE Transactions, an English journal, was founded in 1976. Now IEICE publishes seven English journals in various fields, with emphasis on electronic journals and their open access at this point. This paper describes, from the viewpoint of the author, business models, status and issues of these journals, and touches upon some new approaches to proceed further.
