Abstract

The education for research integrity has become more important in many countries as the measures preventing research misconducts, which often happen from a fault unexpectedly because of different principles and characters from other contravention to the law. The education for research integrity in Japan is mainly compliance education, so-called "preventive ethics", based on domestic regulations. But there is the diversity among countries in terms of both definition of research misconduct and National Research Integrity System (NRIS), reflecting difference in national conditions and National Innovation System (NIS). The existence of such heterogeneity in NRIS increases non-intentional risks to make research misconducts as research activities expand worldwide. The same risks may also happen by the mobility of researchers within different institutions or other research fields, and by chronological change of recognition for research misconducts. It is no longer enough to learn knowledge by education of preventive ethics. Therefore it is required in the training for young researchers to get ability choosing appropriate matters to manage new issues as well as cultivating knowledge for research integrity. It is necessary to build structured teaching method including developing structural training for research integrity in doctoral programs for this purpose.
