Abstract
In the determinations of the content of free ammonia in the rat brain by Conway's micro-diffusion method, and that of free amino acid by paper chromatography, the author obtained the following results.
1) During the marked excitement caused by 20% caffeina et sodii benzoas injections (0.5cc per dose), the content of ammonia increased while those of glutamic acid and glutamine decreased.
2) During the deep sleep caused by amobarbital injections (50mg/kg), the content of ammonia decreased, whereas those of glutamine and aspartic acid increased.
