Abstract

Lateral mammoplasty is step 2-① procedures of OPBCS Volume displacement. Breast-conserving surgery with large excision for the lateral tumors often causes the characteristic deformity of superolateral nipple-areolar complex (NAC) deviation. Lateral mammoplasty has developed to enable the prevention of such deformities and allows wider excision margins in lateral tumors. The technique is composed of both wide tumor excision including overlying skin and NAC re-centralization. Lateral mammoplasty is relatively a simple technique, and can avoid complications such as fat necrosis. Thus, this technique is very useful especially for breast cancer patients with fatty breasts.
