A total of 1130 cases of BIA-ALCL have been reported worldwide through 2022. It occurs most frequently in textured implants, and biofilm and genetic factors are also implicated. It develops as a seroma or a contiguous mass in the implant capsule at an average age of 8 years, and tumor cells are CD30 positive and ALK negative. Complete surgical resection is recommended for early-stage disease. Preoperative discussion, prevention of contamination, and follow-up should be provided, and cytology and imaging studies should be performed if symptoms are present.
