Autologous fat grafting after breast cancer surgery is a very useful treatment to improve cosmetic outcomes, which has been applied for more than 100 years. Recently, the fat grafting technique was improved, along with improvements in fat graft survival rates. There has been concern that adipose cells or tissue might stimulate breast cancer cells that may remain in remnant breasts and so adversely affect patients’ prognoses. Here, we summarize oncological safety when autologous fat grafting is applied for breast cancer patients.
