This study was made in an attempt to clarify the intramedullary course of the efferent salivatory fibers in the rat by using the Fink-Heimer method. These fibers took a course laterally from the salivatory uncleus to emerge from the brain stem. Apparently, they did not possess a genu in their passage. This result is contrary to those supposed by the electrophysiological method or the histochemical technique for cholinesterase.
