A Fundamental Study on the Delimitation of the Inner Area in the Metropolitan Area

in the Case of Inner Kobe

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to delimit the area in which urban decline called “the inner city problem” has been extended in the major city. In the case of Kobe city and its metropolitan area, the inner area is delimited using two indexes. One is the index of built-up process and the other is the index to which change of both population and households or change of both businesses and their employees is applied selectively according to the landuse in the district.
