A Case Study on Overnight Car Parking in the Street

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to elucidate the determinants of overnight car parking in the street. Based on the data acquired through several field surveys in Urayasu, multiple regression analysis was applied to induce the inter-relationship between the volume of parking cars and the explanatory variables of sample zones. The distance from railway station and the population density of zone proved to be dominant factors. By means of this relationship, the whole volume of overnight parking was estimated. In addition, a method for estimating the parking capacity of streets was proposed.
