Abstract

In recent years, congestion has been occurred in terminals in urban areas during morning and evening peak hours as many people come to station by buses, cars and taxis. In this study, as it is difficult to test the alternatives in the real field, a simulation model has been developed to describe the movement of buses in the terminal, based on the observed data. Proposed alternatives were evaluated with the simulation model. Furthermore, the authors analyzed the possibility to save the space for bus terminals by introducing advanced systems of bus operation in the terminal aided by ITS.
