Abstract
The transformation of townscpe in residential area usually advances moderately. We used field research and a qestionnaire to grasp residents evaluation of neighborhood townscape. Three issues emerged. One is determination of site frontage settings is influenced not only by housing product information but also by local context. The second is the confusion of local townscape results in the mismatch between expected future and desirable locality of townscape. The third is to creat new design that preserve the characteristics of local settings is important for sustainablility of local environment.
