The purpose of this paper is to extract spatial components of streets spaces in suburban residential districts in view of crime prevention for children, to facilitate independent outdoor activities of schoolchildren with less control by their parents. The authors surveyed easiness and uneasiness on crime safety of elementary school parents on each street in their neighborhood district, did multiple regression analysis and found that location of shops of groceries and daily small goods on the street side increases feeling of safety. The authors emphasize the importance of inducing safety feeling because it facilitates positive spiral to making streets spaces safer for children.
