A study on regeneration of moats in cities based on Japanese Castle-Towns

Abstract
This paper aims to clarify technique and method of regeneration of moats in the case of Japanese Castle-Towns. Findings are as follows: 1) there are one quarter of cities where moats are regenerated, and due to this, tastes of castle towns are increasing and It'll be a place by the citizen's relaxation around moats, 2) there are a lot of cases by which moats are are full-restored or restored at moats with castle inside, 3) there are seven methods of regeneration of moats as below, step-by-step regeneration (in terms of plan and section), regeneration with other remains, regeneration with other public facilities, securing continuity of moats, regenerating moats apart from existing moats and displaying moat ruins.
