Abstract
The paper sets forth the results of the approaches to district revitalization by Energiewerke Nord GmbH (EWN), the company which is decommissioning and dismantling the Greifswald Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) in Germany, and the concerned local governments, in order to examine issues in district revitalization after the decommissioning of reactors in districts that are the sites of nuclear power plants. A detailed plan for the zone was formulated for the purpose of making use of the nuclear power plant facilities and site as far as possible, and the local authorities constructed an industrial port there. At present, efforts are being made to attract corporate siting to an industrial estate for factories prepared on the NPP site. However, an interim storage facility newly accepting material from the decommissioning of other nuclear power plants on the grounds is stirring up unease about the district's future.
