Abstract
This research analyzed changes in traffic behavior of visitors by creation of space for pedestrians in the central urban area. We carried out probe person survey with the experiment of reallocation of road space that carried out in the central urban area of Okayama City in 2015. It investigated visiting traffic means, migration behavior, residence of visitors while ordinary holidays and the experiment. We analyzed their changes, as a result, it was revealed that the creation of space for pedestrians increased walking migration and staying time in the central urban areas, and increased the number of public transport users who had longer staying times than other traffic means. Also, it was clear that public transport users live close to the stations and bus stops. Therefore, Compact city and the creation of space for pedestrians may have synergistic effects.
