Abstract
In this work, we focused on interaction that takes place in town squares and performed quantitative assessment of the structures among the actors using social network analysis. We used Minna-no-hiroba in Matsuyama City as a case study. We found that a high proportion of users in the preschool and child age range show high values of outdegree centrality, indegree centrality, and flow centrality, showing that there are certain users that are needed to increase the degree of communicative behaviors provided by a town square. Moreover, in the playground area, there was a high proportion of communicative behavior from users with high indegree centrality, showing that it was a space conducive to communicative behavior
