Abstract
China is influenced by urbanisation, it is not an exception in historical cities, and together with modern development the urban personality is greatly impaired and urban landscape homogenization is proceeding. In the 2000s, the center of urban development in China moved from the coast to the back of the continent, and along with it the traditional townscapes that supported the personality of Chinese cities and its distinctive landscapes have been destroyed one by one. Xian City in Shaanxi Province is a representative. Since Xi'an and surrounding areas have a long history, there are many historical sites. However, it is difficult to balance urban development with protection of cultural heritage, and many problems arise in the historical landscape that should be protected.
