Abstract

Recently, university students’ contribution to a local community is expected in the context of regional revitalization. On the other hand, many provincial universities have introduced the learning programs on the local communities where the universities are located. In this study, the web questionnaire survey was conducted for the students in provincial universities. The effect of the learning program about a local community on students’ motivation for the participation in community development was evaluated quantitatively. The result of the survey showed that the learning experience had the significant effects on students’ motivation for the participation. The learning experience was especially effective for the students with no communication with other universities and the students at the universities in small cities.
