Abstract

Fireworks displays are classified into urban fireworks and regional fireworks, depending on the conditions of the location where they are held. Fireworks displays held in urban centers such as Tokyo are considered urban fireworks, while those held in suburban and rural areas far from urban areas are considered regional fireworks. In this study, we focus on urban fireworks, and the Sumida River Fireworks Festival is the subject of our research. First, we analyzed the visibility of fireworks and the Sky Tree using actual building data. Then, we evaluate the visibility of fireworks by using the plane angle to express the quality of visible fireworks and the solid angle to quantify the quantity of visible fireworks through a visual model of fireworks that takes into account the movement of the viewpoint on the road. The purpose of this study is to analytically evaluate the visibility of fireworks and to characterize the fireworks viewing of urban fireworks that are supposed to be mobile.
