Abstract

The integrated practices coordinating projects and various people involved are necessary in the process of the recent urban transformation demanding the change of lifestyle at the shrinking age. The concept of planning should cope with this. In this study, the regeneration of urban center in Okazaki, Saga, Maebashi cities are focused, and their legal and administrative plans and the public and private sectors’ attempts for revitalization are analyzed with the viewpoint of the role of informal plans and the necessity of management entities for the implementation of the plan. Through the analysis, tow discussing points for the planning concept are raised; 1) mechanism incorporated in the plan to coordinate and update it, 2) value system to assess the impact of the area where the local practices implemented.
