The flood prevention measures of the Kotsuki river for a situation such as the heavy rainfall of August 1993 and the measures for the preservation of stone-masonry bridges

Abstract

The quantity of flow along the Kotsuki river and the amount of trees and other materials during the disaster of August 1993 due to heavy rainfall are investigated and based on these, flood prevention measures for the Kotsuki river are proposed. As a measure of preservation of stone-masonry bridges which are important historical structures, technical studies are presented about constructing a branch to the main river to reduce its water flow.
