Abstract

This study aims to validate the applicability of the elasticity theory of dislocation in calculating surface displacement by comparing surface displacement data from the Turkey earthquake. The surface displacement distribution was calculated using the elasticity theory of dislocation with the fault dislocation models in the 2023 Turkey earthquake. Comparative analysis revealed that the surface displacement calculated using the elasticity theory of dislocation along the fault had a good agreement in terms of the overall distribution, however, the location at the peak of displacement is dependent on the shallow slip of the fault-slip models. Further research and validation are necessary to enhance the accuracy and applicability of this method.
