Abstract

This study aims to refine a three-dimensional flow model in a generalized curvilinear coordinate system by incorporating a porous media approach to simulate simultaneously both surface and seepage flows. The accuracy and effectiveness of the model are verified through its application to three scenarios: a dam break process over permeable porous bed, open channel flows with bed suction and curved open channel flows over a deformed riverbed. The numerical results demonstrate that the model is capable of accurately predicting water surface and velocity distributions over the riverbed with the complex boundary.
