Abstract

Combining shared autonomous vehicles service with public transport systems as last-mile transportation can improve people’s egress travel, which in turn promotes the use of public transportation. There are many studies that have analysed people’s trust in and intentions to use shared autonomous vehicles as last-mile mobility services, however there are few studies that quantitatively investigate such intentions and trust with consideration of monetary value. This study used a stated preference survey to quantitatively analyse students’ willingness to pay for shared autonomous vehicles from railway stations to campuses of Kobe University. The results showed that there was no specific resistance to using this service. For students, there is no significant difference between this service and taxi service. This result suggests that shared autonomous vehicle service should be prioritised in the last mile area where many students commute to school.
