Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of marital conflict on gender consciousness within multi-cultural family couples’. The subjects in this study were couples from multi-cultural families in the regions of Daegu and Gyeongbuk province. A structured survey was conducted to gather data. In order to complement quantitative methods, qualitative methods were conducted. The data was collected through in-depth interview and observation. Immigrant women's marital conflict was influenced by their country of origin. The husbands' marital conflict was influenced by the duration of their marriage, power structure consciousness and his domestic role consciousness. In conclusion, different factors influenced the conflict within the multi-cultural family couple’. In order to reduce marital conflict, the establishment of individualized instructional programs that create multiculturalism atmosphere and reestablishment of gender equality role system is recommended.
