The Naito Museum of Pharmaceutical Science and Industry was set up in 1971 by Toyoji Naito, the founder of pharmaceutical manufacturer Eisai Co., Ltd., and the Naito Foundation. The Museum consists of a main building, exhibition spaces, a library and medicinal garden. The Museum has been open to the public as a comprehensive museum of medicine and has been collecting historical materials and books. The museum will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. Its collection runs to 65,000 artifacts and 62,000 books. While avoiding deterioration of materials and books, we are working on creating a program that visitors can experience. We hope that the history of medicine will be recognized and established as one item in Japanese culture.
