Abstract
The amount of the aerobic & anaerobic glycolysis of 5 cases of the renal and 22 cases of the vesical tumor tissue were measured by means of the Warburg's manometer, to calculate the Warburg quotient with the ratio of respiration and aerobic glycolysis amount.
Discussion was made on the relations between these quotients and the development of the tumor or its infiltration, obtaining the results as follows:
1) The more became the tumor malignant, the impairment of the respiration and the increase of the aerobic glycolysis were more remarkable, i. e. the ratio augmented.
2) The vesical papillomatous tumor, in the highly proliferating state and of multiple tendency, even when with benignant looking, showed an accelerated anaerobic glycolysis, while in a case of much infiltrative growth the reduced respiration and the prominence of the aerobic to the anaerobic glycolysis were denoted.
3) Before giving the surgical aggression on the vesical tumor, it is worthy to examine the biopsy for the decision of the treatment. The biopsy by itself, being so tiny and incomplete, that one can hardly make judge the grade of the infiltration, remained formerly as to observe merely the cellular immaturity. The exact estimation of the infiltration is not established until after applying the Warburg quotient of the tumor-tissue.
