Abstract

We are going to perform an experiment on turbulent magnetic fields using high-intensity laser system at TIFR, India. We are going to use pump-probe Cotton-Mouton technique for measurement of magnetic field. High-intensity laser-plasma interaction often leads to the formation of electromagnetic two-stream instability i.e. Weibel instability, which is the basic mechanism for small-scale or sub-Larmor scale turbulent magnetic fields in plasma. When a charged particle moving through the small-scale magnetic turbulence, it emit a radiation, which is distinct from both synchrotron and cyclotron radiation. This radiation gives the valuable information on statistical properties of turbulent magnetic field structure.
