Solitary Waves on a Continuous Wave Background

Abstract

A class of exact solutions of some nonlinear envelopeequations is derived by the Hirota bilinear method. These solutionsreduce to a plane wave in the far field but generally are not darksolitons. In one asymptotic regime they simplify to solitary waves ona continuous wave background.
