Magnetic Collapse in Incompressible Plasma Flows

Abstract

We investigate 3D incompressible plasma flow in thevicinities of critical points of magnetic configurations. Wepresent exact self-similar solution of the MHD equations thatcorresponds to the plasma motion with uniform deformation. Thesolution demonstrates appearance of singular distribution of theelectric current density near the magnetic field separatrixsurfaces. Within the class of the solutions, solutions have beenfound which describe formation of singularity during finiteinterval of time.
