Mössbauer Spectroscopic Study on Iron-Containing Biominerals in the Limpet Radula

Abstract

Mössbauer measurements on iron-containing biominerals in the limpet radula have been carried out in the temperature range 5--420, K. Spectra show the same parameters and behavior as seen in goethite. The synthesis of iron-mineral in the limpet radula seems to occur only in the form of goethite among many iron oxides.
