Abstract

Here, we present, for the first time, the spin density distribution of CeB₆, isostructural with CaB₆, deduced by the maximum entropy method (MEM) using polarized neutron diffraction (PND) data. Surprisingly, it reveals the presence of significant amounts of localized spin moment at non atomic sites between the nearest-neighbor boron atoms and the center of the triangle surface in the B₆ octahedron network, in addition to the negative spin moment in the center of the B₆ octahedron.
