Shellac Wax Electrets

Abstract

Shellac Wax can be made to behave as an electret and two simple methods of preparing Shellac Wax electrets under different experimental conditions have been given. The charge decay curves and the charge measuring technique has been presented. The dielectric follows the accepted qualitatiue theory of electret behaviour. This paper also discusses the phenomenon of hetero-charge and homo-charge. The maximum surface charge of 7.5 e.s.u. per cm² has been measured.
