Abstract
X-ray diffraction measurements have been made on the single crystal specimens at 293°K and 20°K. The data at 293°K are analyzed by assuming different temperature factors for the atoms in different sites. The structure parameters agree, to an accuracy of 10−3 a, with those determined by Gazzara et al. from the powder diffraction data. The temperature factor for site IV is found to be slightly smaller than those for the other sites. An attempt was made to detect the magnetostrictive atom displacements in the crystal at 20°K (TN=95°K). Neither the tetragonality of the order of 10−4 nor appreciable atom displacement was observed.
