The Radiative Proton Capture Cross Sections in ²⁰⁹Bi with E_p from 10 to 50 MeV

Abstract

The radiative proton capture cross sections in ²⁰⁹Bi were measured with E_p from 10 MeV to 50 MeV by applying a stacked foil technique. It was found that the excitation function has a maximum value of 0.38 mb at E_p=12 MeV and then it becomes monotonously smaller as the bombarding energy increases up to E_p=50 MeV. In the peak region of the excitation function, the magnitude of the cross sections is found to be a few times larger than that predicted by the statistical model.
