Further Remarks on Araki’s Theory of Inverted Alkali Doublets

Abstract

In a reply to the writer’s criticism on his theory of the inverted doublets in certain alkali spectra, Araki takes exception to the first of the criticisms that the effective charge for the f electron wave functions in Cu should be unity instead of 7.6. The present note presents arguments for this criticism and shows that the contention of Araki is untenable.
