Abstract

An order-disorder phase transition was found in Chevrel-phase Ag_1.6Mo₆S₈ at about 280 K. From the analogy of results of the electrical resistance and the X-ray diffraction to those in Cu_1.8Mo₆S₈, this is thought to be a structural phase transition from rhombohedral to triclinic due to the order-disorder transition of Ag atoms.
