NMR Study of Magnetic State of RMn₂ Intermetallic Compounds. I. R=Light Rare Earth

Abstract

The ⁵⁵Mn zero-field NMR spectra and their field dependence of the light rare earth RMn₂ compounds have been measured at 4.2 K. The results indicate antiferromagnetism of these compounds. The values of Mn moments estimated from the center resonance frequency of the quadrupole splitting are 2.3 μ_B for SmMn₂, 3.0 μ_B for NdMn₂ and 3.2 μ_B for PrMn₂.
