Abstract
We study theoretically X-ray emission spectra (XES) corresponding to the 5p→3d electronic transition in insulating La and Ce compounds. The spectra are calculated with the impurity Anderson model and by applying a formula of coherent second order optical process. It is shown that the XES reflects the relaxation through the hybridization between 4f and valence band states, as well as the lifetime of 3d core hole. The result is compared with recent experimental data.
