Abstract
Parameterized expressions for the static local-field corrections, which exactly take into account the second-order exchange-diagram contributions to the correlation energy in 2D and 3D electron liquids, are derived. Spin-dependent correlation analyses predict a possible onset of a spin-density wave instability with k\simeq2kF at rs\simeq1.9 for a 2D system. As the critical conditions are approached, an attractive interaction emerges between nearest-neighbor electrons with antiparallel spins.
