Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examin the developmental changes of the object conflicts between young children in a nursery school. Subjects were eight children with a mean age of 12.9 months at beginning of the study. The data were obtained from the observations of free play in their classroom with regular bimonthly video-recording sessions. The period of observation was from May 1988 to March 1989. The following changes were found with age : (a) The rate of the possessor's NR (no response) to intruding behaviors decreased. (b) The rate of "the other-directed behaviors" (reject, request, etc.) in the object conflicts increased. (c) The rate of the cases those intruders ultimately got possession of objects decreased.
